It's not as bad as the video says. Russia is still one of the strongest countries in the world in chess. in 2016, Sergey Karjakin played for the title of world champion, Jan nepomnyashchy in 2021 and in 2023. Alexander Grischuk is a multiple winner of the World Blitz Championship (Sergey Karjakin, by the way, too). Daniil Dubov would have been the world blitz champion if it hadn't been for the horse dance. Even relatively recently, Magnus and Jan shared the world blitz champion titles among themselves. The current rapid world champion Volodar Murzin can go on like this for a long time. Roman Shogdjieff is also the youngest international master in history from Russia. And even now, a generation of very strong chess players is growing up in the person of Savva Vetokhin, Ivan Zemlyansky and other other strong promising players. Even those players who have moved to other countries(such as Anish Giri, Vityugov, Predke, Sarana) are still students of the Russian school of chess. And I didn't even mention other great chess players from Russia like Artemiev, Andreikin, Esipenko, Morozevich. In terms of chess olympiads, Russia got first place in 2010, 2012 and second place in 2014, 2018. I wouldn't consider it as a failure or "total collapse". Sorry guys, but for me, who a little bit familiarized with chess world, it some kind of western propaganda, I guess?
